About me
Currently a learning specialist at University School of Nashville, Rachael brings more than 20 years of experience focused on the intersection of regulation, rigor, and the science of learning. Her work centers on helping students understand their individual neurotypes and apply neuroscience-informed strategies that strengthen metacognition, executive functioning, and academic independence.
With a background in special education, social-emotional learning, and applied educational neuroscience, Rachael partners with faculty, students, and families to translate research into practical classroom application. She is particularly interested in how universal design and intentional classroom conditions normalize productive struggle, build cognitive flexibility, and expand access to meaningful challenge.
Rachael's experience includes curriculum design, MTSS frameworks, and leading professional learning for educators . She has collaborated with Facebook’s InspirED, CASEL, and ASCD’s Differentiated Instruction Cadre, and her work has been featured on Edutopia and in the Tennessee Department of Education’s SEL Educator Toolkit.
